Disagreement leads to felony charges for Louisiana husband

All couples have disagreements. They are part of any relationship. But, a recent argument between a married Louisiana couple seemingly escalated to more than a disagreement and ended with serious felony charges against the husband.

This domestic dispute reportedly turned into a felony arrest in Anacoco, north of Calcasieu Parish, when a 32-year-old man allegedly set fire to a trailer after a heated argument with his wife. He was charged with seven counts of attempted murder because other people occupied the trailer at the time of the crime. The Louisiana man is also facing aggravated arson and criminal trespassing charges.

The authorities said that when they responded to the domestic disturbance, they saw a mobile home on fire. Witnesses stated that the suspect argued with his spouse and threatened residents inside the mobile home, who were uninjured in the blaze.

The suspect reportedly also recently used a gun to allegedly threaten six people, bringing charges of six counts of aggravated assault with a firearm and aggravated criminal damage to property and illegal discharge of a firearm. Police said charges for this incident also stemmed from an altercation with a woman. No injuries were reported from the altercation.

The severity of felony penalties depends on the circumstances of each case. However, just the allegation of criminal charges can damage a suspect's reputation and jeopardize employment. Domestic violence charges, in particular, can damage family relationships, especially if the suspect has children. Previous criminal allegations or convictions also increase the severity of consequences of additional felony charges.
