An incident occurred in a Louisiana hospital that likely came as a surprise to the staff members involved. The situation led to a hospital patient and his wife needing criminal defense help. The events unfolded on a recent day when a nurse walked into the man’s room to check on him.
The nurse later described the scene she allegedly came upon in the hospital room. She told authorities she found the patient and his wife, who was apparently visiting him at the time, passed out cold with tourniquets wrapped around their arms. The nurse said both people had syringes sticking out of their arms as well.
Police reportedly searched the entire hospital room. They claim to have found Oxycodone and Percocet pills, as well as baggies containing a substance they believed to be heroin and various other possible illegal drug-related items. The patient and his wife were each charged with various counts of drug possession.
The woman was arrested on the spot and taken into police custody. Her husband is expected to be placed under arrest as soon as he is released from the hospital. Even when police claim to have ample evidence against a particular defendant, it does not constitute guilt; due process of the law must take place in each situation before a determination is made. Not every criminal defense situation is as peculiar as this one appears to be; however, no Louisiana resident is left alone to fight such battles in court. A simple request for legal assistance is all it takes to secure representation.
