Louisiana police recently arrested a woman after she allegedly engaged in a physical altercation with another person. She is facing a slew of charges, including simple arson, aggravated assault and fistic encounter. When a person in Lake Charles is arrested on similar charges, early and careful attention to criminal defense planning can help minimize the impact of such allegations.
Before the physical altercation, the 34-year-old woman was apparently engaged in a verbal argument at approximately 8:30 a.m. At some point, the defendant supposedly struck the woman. The other woman responded by stabbing the woman with a knife, although it is not clear if she was injured or received any type of medical care for a knife wound.
The two purportedly continued fighting until the defendant removed the other woman's wig and used a cigarette lighter to make it catch on fire. When police arrived, they say the accused woman may have been trying to strike the other woman with a shovel. Authorities arrested the defendant and booked her into a local jail, although they did not say whether the other woman involved in the encounter was arrested or charged.
Police claim that the defendant admitted to all of her charges. When facing these types of serious situations, Lake Charles defendants often choose to work alongside an attorney who is experienced in handling difficult criminal defense matters. This can be a smart decision to make for those who hope to minimize the impact of serious criminal matters, such as lengthy prison sentences and steep fines.
