Criminal charges filed over vehicle burglaries

Police recently arrested three adults accused of burglaries in Lake Charles. All three are facing various criminal charges and have varying bonds, with the highest bond set at $87,500. A minor was later arrested and taken to a juvenile detention center.

Authorities first received complaints about possible vehicle burglaries on April 15, 2020, at which time they launched an investigation into the matter. The investigators managed to get surveillance footage of the area where the alleged burglaries took place and identified who they believed were the suspects. The video showed three people in a black vehicle driving around the area and entering vehicles that were unlocked.

The car spotted in the footage was registered to a 21-year-old Lake Charles woman, and police visited her at her residence, where they were given permission to search the property. The investigators claim that they found much of the property that was reported stolen. She was arrested and charged for possessing stolen things worth between $1,000 to $5,000, and while she was apparently not involved in the actual burglaries, she was aware that the property was stolen.

Investigators later identified two men -- aged 19 and 20 years old -- along with a 16-year-old juvenile who were allegedly responsible for the burglaries. The 19-year-old is facing several charges, including four counts for simple burglary, and has the highest bond of $187,500. The other adult faces only a single charge for simple burglary, but is also charged with marijuana possession in addition to other allegations. His bond was set at $63,500.

Facing multiple criminal charges can be complicated, as each allegation can lead to different legal consequences like jail time or fines. Defending one's self in this type of situation can be difficult, but no one has to go through the process alone. Constructing a criminal defense under the guidance of an experienced counsel can be helpful for Lake Charles defendants who are worried about how to handle these types of circumstances.
